Trails For Every Skill Level

The best way to enjoy a mountain bike park includes knowing your limits. Very few of us participate in the X Games. However, a little planning can show you the way.

Easy Street warms riders up to the terrain in an easy, yet challenging way. Wind your way down a personal favorite, Lower Boogie, and then into Duke. Lots of bumps, jumps, twists, turns and straightaways.

No matter your path, the trails are exceptionally well maintained and clearly labeled. Just remember – yield to uphill traffic! A great day biking includes a safe return home.

Featured mountain bike events attract some of the best in the world to one of the premier mountain bike parks in North America.

Time to Eat!

Burning calories on an award-winning mountain bike park will not be a challenge. When you need to fuel up, local favorites are as diverse as the trail terrain.

El Jefe offers a New Mexico twist on Mexican family-style food. Every plate is delicious. When the day ends – the open air patio provides a comforting sanctuary to enjoy a few adult beverage or a cool glass of ice tea. Their wagya green chili burger is amazing!

Awesome shops and food are waiting at the base of the lifts.

Angel Fired Pizza makes fresh, oven baked pizza the likes of which have never been matched. There are no words to describe the ‘T-Rex’ other than – ‘you must eat this pizza!’. Located in the village center, they prepare the best pizza and you must visit these folks!

Angel Fire Vacation Rentals

Angel Fire, NM Vacation Rentals

February 9, 2019|Angel Fire, NM Lodging

If you are looking for a destination stay, be sure to look for Angel Fire vacation rentals. Many family vacations start with the destination in mind and can overlook the day-to-day details like – a kitchen. Many vacation rental companies have seen folks who travel regularly know how much more a cost effective vacation is to prepare at least breakfast and some dinners at a vacation home or vacation condo.

Some hotels have a small kitchenette, but often lack things like – clean pots and pans. Plus, after a long day skiing or mountain biking, you’ll want settle in for a homemade dinner and glass of wine. With no one else around, you can focus on the conversation and not the distractions!

Easy, Hearty Breakfast Pie

Fantastic and easy breakfast pie that is very easy to make.

An easy Angel Fire breakfast pie is a great way to get the energy you’ll need for the day! One of the main reasons a vacation rental property is far more attractive than a hotel room is simply – a full kitchen! Whether you are just on a romantic getaway for 2 or organizing a family reunion for 200 – a vacation rental makes life simple!

Calorie counters beware – this is a delicious recipe that is simple to do and serves 16, but can easily be halved or quartered.

Shopping list:

  • 12oz bulk reduced fat breakfast sausage
  • ½ cup onion, chopped (optional)
  • 2 9” pre-made pie shells already in tins
  • 8oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 ½ cups of milk (whole, 2%, skim – doesn’t really matter)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Preheat oven to 375F. Have a sip of your first mimosa of the day. While that is heating, brown the sausage and onions in a skillet and drain (you want a little moisture, but not too much or the pie crust will get soggy). A 2nd sip of mimosa is now in order (duh). Put the two empty pie shells on a cookie sheet and line the bottom of the two pie shells with the cooked sausage and onions. Combine the eggs, cheese, milk, salt and pepper and pour the mixture over the sausage/onions in the two pie shells. By all means – you’ve earned a third mimosa sip. Now the hard part – bake these two breakfast pies in the oven for 30 minutes. The timer should go off by the time you finish your 2nd mimosa.

Stunning views and family fun are waiting for you at our Cozy Mountain Condo!

Things to Consider

There are several things to consider besides price when searching for lodging in Angel Fire:

· Number of guests

· Condo, home or hotel

· Walking distance to lifts

· Equipment rental

· Weather

· Proximity to restaurants/bars/shopping

Your family will love skiing at Angel Fire. Well groomed slopes and powder are waiting!

Intent of Your Stay

Many places will indicate ‘sleeps up to 12 people’, but do your research. We’ve found small condos jammed with 8 bunk beds in two rooms, a futon couch that sleeps another two and a full size bed holding two more people. Sure – 12 people can sleep there, but I’d rather feel like I’m on vacation than in prison.

Accommodations in Angel Fire, NM are primarily comprised of condos within walking distance of the lifts and homes within a quick drive. If you prefer, there is also a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes from several parking lots. Additionally, there are several places to rent equipment, which are slightly cheaper the further from the lifts you’re willing to go. We’ve found that equipment rental right at the lifts is reasonably priced for quality equipment. When you’re being fitted – be honest with the folks helping. Indicating you only ski the most difficult terrain, when in fact you haven’t been on the slopes in 20 years will make for a bad experience, and probably a torn ACL.

Fresh snow and dedicated snowboard park lets everyone from beginners to experts have an amazing time!

This year has been one of the best on record for snowfall. Last year’s drought is over. More than 90” has fallen and the reviews are glowing! But keep in mind – Angel Fire, NM weather can still make driving conditions challenging to get to the resort, just as any other ski venue. We’ve skied with 30 mph winds bringing the wind chill to -20 F and had a blast! Just be prepared.

Places to Eat

Angel Fired Pizza

The variety of places to eat and bars to visit is a short list, but a very good list. We stop at Angel Fired Pizza every single time we visit. The ‘T-Rex’ pizza is a collection of all the carnivore favorites on the freshest pizza we’ve ever had.

Zeb’s is another favorite. Great variety of food at reasonable prices. The wait staff is super-friendly and they are always busy.

Both of these places are located right on Highway 464 (main road through Angel Fire, NM). There are many more restaurants and bars worth visiting in person. Not to mention the Lowes’ grocery store in the center of town that will definitely have most of what you’re looking for.

So why wait – visit Angel Fire, NM soon!
